Things to do in Mellieħa
Popeye Village
The original film set built at Anchor Bay for the 1980 Popeye film, now run as a family attraction with entertainment, boat rides and small museums.
Għadira Nature Reserve
A seven-hectare reserve of brackish lake and saltmarsh that attracts many migrating birds. Visitors watch and photograph birds from hides, with volunteers on hand to help newcomers.
Red Tower
St Agatha's Tower: a square 17th-century Knights' tower with corner turrets on the crest of the Marfa Ridge. It overlooks Għadira Bay and has wide views across the channel to Comino and Gozo.
Mellieħa Bay
Also called Għadira. Malta's longest sandy beach, where the water stays shallow a long way out.
Paradise Bay
A small cove down a flight of steps at the island's northern tip, looking across to Comino and Gozo.
Armier Bay
Laid-back little sandy bays on the Marfa ridge. A local favourite.
