Privacy

What we count, what we keep, and how to be taken off the list.

Lost in Malta does not use cookies, does not show adverts that follow you around, and does not sell or share anything about its visitors.

What we count

To see which parts of the site are useful, we count what happens on it: pages opened, words typed into the site's own search, events opened, buttons pressed, links followed, and roughly how long a page is read. With each of those we keep the country, whether it was a phone, tablet or computer, and the website the visitor came from.

We do not keep IP addresses, and nothing is saved in your browser to recognise you. Each page you open is counted on its own, so we cannot tell that two pages were read by the same person. If your browser sends a "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signal, none of this is recorded for you.

What you choose to send us

Newsletter
Your email address and, if you tell us, whether you live in Malta or are visiting and in which month. We use it only to send you the newsletter. You can leave at any time with the form on this page.
Messages
What you write in the contact form, with your name and email address if you add them, so that we can answer.
Events and reports
The details of an event you submit, or of a mistake you report, so that we can check them against the source.
"Was this page useful?"
Your Yes or No, and your note if you write one.

Who else is involved

The site and its database are run on Cloudflare, which also measures how fast pages load, without cookies. The database is kept in Western Europe. The typefaces come from Google Fonts and the weather on the home page from Open-Meteo; your browser asks them for those directly.

Your browser remembers the colour style you picked and a half-written message on your own device. That stays on your device.

Your choices

You can ask to see what we hold about you, or have it corrected or deleted, through the contact form or at [email protected].
